Default slp headers

i called today and talked to slp, they said that the headers with the O2 hook up in them might still set my check eng. light off, should i just go with no O2 headers and get a O2 simulator? or is there somthing eles i am missing that will set my light off?

Stay away from the SLP headers. Do a search, and you will find out why. Front O2's are necessary. Rear O2's can be deleted from your PCM, or use O2 sims to get rid of the code. I highly suggest a tune after headers to make sure the car runs right, and you get the most out of the headers. Get Kooks Stainless steel, or if they are too much $, get Pacesetter coated headers for like $300.

The slp headers hang really low, causing issues with speed bumps & normal bumps in the road. Coating flakes off.

they pretty much all do, man. don't worry about that. pick your header wisely. they all have styles with the O2 sensors in them. you don't need them anyway. just get them tuned out for like $75.

they hang low, but SLP headers are also stainless so the coating is really just an added benefit. after all, juts being stainless has a similar affect on heat as the jet-hot coating that is on them, so for a few months you get double the effectiveness, if it werent for the design of the headers they would be great, but i think they were the first equal-length long tube headers out for the f-body so its excusable...

yea well SLP also has the only stainless headers out there with consistant complaints of surface rust...and we're talking about in as fast as a year's time!

-they hang low
-the coating flakes
-the stainless steel rusts

what the ****. that is not a question, it's a statement. stay away from SLP. probably the best fitting/best made air lid, some of the best quality exhausts out there...but horrible headers.

FWIW, QTP boasts their header as "the only equal length header". slp's headers are crazy shaped. i doubt they're equal length.

Besides hanging really low, they are very very hard to install or remove.

Peace,
Craig.

Performance wise, very good, but if you are lowered, NOT recommended IMO. To date, I have never scraped the headers, but have scraped my HF cats which extend below the collectors. SLP will warranty these headers of any coating defects (excluding surface rust). I am having mine replaced this fall. Bear in mind, SLP outsources the jet coating, so if the coating is too thin, then yes, you may have issues over time.

save some money.. talk to someone at tsp about pacesetters and an ory $500.. or get the rumbler x system.. either way, youre saving a lot of money and getting the same if not better performance and fit without all the cons of the slps

BTW, yes, my SES activated after the install, but SLP took care of that too! If I had to do it again, probably Kooks or Jet Hots......not crazy about Pacesetters, but everyone has their own opinion.

Like everyone says, research, research, research!

I have SLP headers for almost two years now and never an issue. Do they hang low, a little. I have never scraped or had any issues with them. As far as peformance well I gained 29 rwhp and 25 rwtq with the headers and ory.So I think that speaks for it self. I have not seen to many people get more performance out of headers and ory alone. With the same mods. Surface rust is going to happen weather you get stainless or not so get over it. The amount of rust is going to depend on the area you live in and the material the headers is made of, so go stainless. Good luck with your selection and post up your numbers when you make your choice.
