Harmonic Balancers

Can any SBC harmonic balancer be used for an LS1?I want to install an underdrive high RPM type on my hybrid.

I would say no. We have 25% underdriven pullies for these cars that you can buy off the shelf from any sponsor. ----->

LS1's and LS2's have a unique harmonic damper totally different from earlier small block Chevys. Also the LS1/LS6 Corvette uses a different damper than Camaros or Firebirds.

The better question is , how are you guys reinstalling the Harmonic Balancer, assuming you don't have the GM tools.

Put in oven (optional), slide onto snout, screw in bolt slightly longer than stock (or threaded rod/washer/nut), tighten untill it's sucked on enough to get a good bite with the old bolt, tighten old bolt untill it hits 22 ft-lbs, remove old bolt and install new bolt, tighten per LS1howto.com specs (cam-swap guide).
