I also pounded the bump in brace with a sledge hammer to flatten it out...

to get it to shut up, and the pipe somewhat,
just strategic "dimples". The washers didn't
do enough because they only lower the back
mounting points and the bind is up front if
you have the convertible style brace. The
whole thing wants to be jacked and shimmed as
you go tightening it up, this includes the
I-pipe too, all the way back to the gas tank.
Then you get a nice tight setup with adequate
clearances.

I ran without one for about a year and didn't notice any difference. But, then again, I have SLP 3pt SFCs, so I still had plenty of floor board support...
I know of many people that take it off and forget about it. Washers are a fine solution, but until you get the washers, if it's driving you nuts just take it off. You can always put it back on whenever you have the chance to buy some washers. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
