Default Should I consider a new MAF?

I've been wondering lately if my stock MAF may be holding back a few ponies on my car... Descreening the MAF is the only "mod" I've made to it, although in the past (long time ago) I have used a GMS MAF, and a stock ported MAF...

Anyway, I've been considering the SLP 85mm MAF, since it's priced right, and is calibrated to work properly with the stock MAF table in the PCM, so no additional "tweaking" should be required.

What's the general consensus? Anyone think it be worthwhile???

I've heard there are fewer problems with the PACE MAF.

I haven't really heard of any problems with the SLP unit...

I just don't want to spend money on something that isn't going to give me any benefit...

Another vote for the pace maf. I hear less bad about them compared to the SLP.....although I'm pretty sure they're both delphi units..hmmmmm I think the problems associated with mafs all comes down to tuning though. I opted for a pace on my 422.

My SLP MAF change my ltrims by a few percent when I switched from stock descreened. Don't assume that an aftermarket will be dead on, especially since your stock unit is slightly altered.

I just don't want to have to tweak MAF tables, especially if the larger 85mm MAF isn't going to help any.

I don't have LTRMS or STRMS, since I have an open-loop only program and no O2 sensors...

Pace or SLP, doesn't matter much to me. The bottom line, will I gain anything from the increased air flow potential of a larger MAF?
