Default Loudmouth instead of Borla??

I have a Borla cat back on my car now (1999 SS).The Borla was on the car when I bought it, sounds weak. My loudmouth should be installed by next Tuesday. Will gain or lose any power after the swap? I know the Borla originaly cost alot more $$ but does it flow better? Car was just dyno'd at 316 RWHP. That sounded a little low to me.

1999 Camaro SS, M6, lid, Borla cat back, Hypertech(junk), Spec stage 3 clutch, lightweight flywheel, 410's, Gmaf, and a limited tune sesion.

Just a catback on an otherwise stock engine isn't going to make any "real" power really....maybe a few horsepower but the Loudmouth will flow a little better than anything with any kind of a muffler. It is basically just a straight pipe when it comes to flow. I assume it's an adjustable Borla, do you know which plate (if any) it had in? I have never heard a Borla on an LS1 but the Loudmouth is suppose to be quite a bit louder

hhhhmmmm, you say the borla is to quiet, but with stock exhaust it is the loudest, why because it is adjustable. I have mine with out a plate and it is louder than my friends dynomouth (type of loudmouth). Plus that borla is stainless steal and about twice the price of the loudmouth. So your thinking a catback with virtualy no muffler is quieter than one with a resonator. Why don't you just remove the borla muffler and add a bullet muffler or a pipe in its place.

I've heard quite a few folks say you dyno a little less HP if the car was dyno'd with the 410's. I do not know this to be fact, just heard it from a few folks.

I'd imagine your power would be near identical through a LM as a Borla wide open.

On an LS1 I do beleive that the Loudmouth is what I would want (louder, more aggressvie than Borla) and I would "downgrade" IF I could sell the Borla for a decent amount of money and put the extra money towards even more mods and get more "bang for your buck". Yes, the Borla is a better system I think in all BUT sound. Stainless, adjustable, and if you want headers w/o cats down the road you DON'T want a Loudmouth unless you have heard that setup and liked it. Personally I LOVE the way it sounds at WOT as well as downshifting my A4 into second gear between 30-40 mph or so and listening to it and should be gettng Mac headers with Random tech cats added this fall

The Loud Mouth is great. I love the sound of mine. But, if you plan on getting some long tube headers, I
would probably reconsider - a lot of people don't like the combo. Just thought I would let you know (if you didn't already).

I wouldn't even think of doing that. The Borla is awesome. Wanna sell it? Is it adjustable?

better check the plate. friends of mine can hear me coming down the street inside their houses with my borla wide open. the loudmouth is louder outside the car and inside. but the interior noise is horrid. i wouldnt downgrade either if i were you. youll regret it when you put headers on

you will regret it when you put headers on IF you don't use cats, that is....I don't mind the way my Loudmouth sounds inside the car it's just worlds better outsidet the. Again, check the plates though the Borla is a good system just not as loud as the LOUDmouth, more $$$, and will last longer and be more adjustable and work with more stuff........You might want to keep it (i would have to think about it thouhg)

My Borla is adjustable. It has three plates that can be used. When I took it apart the ( medium plate ) was on it. One is a triangle, one has a small hole, and one leaves it wide open. I have used all three and there is little difference between them. I didn't know the loudmouth wasn't stainless. I feel like I'm doing my mod's too quickly. I hate to change things after I do it the first time.

RedZ_02. You dodn't want to see me weld. lol. I bought the loudmouth for several reasons. I don't like the sound of the Borla, the tips are ugly, and it looks well used. My car has 20k on it, the Borla looks like it has alot more. For $350 I get a brand new system W/nice tips that sounds mean. Maybe I'm wrong.

Send me some pics of the Borla if you can I love the way the borla looked on my last 99 Z. Good luck with your loudmouth. As long as you like it that's all that matters.

I have had the Borla on my car since new. Almost 4 yrs now! Looks just as good as it did when i put it on! You simply cannot beat the look, quality, and sound. IMO!
