Default Kooks vs. QTPs

I need headers now. I have narrowed my choices down to a stainless header system with a catted Y pipe. As far as quality and performance goes, which system is better, Kooks or QTPs? I talked to Nick @ Kooks and he said that his header will out perform any other. Is this true? Will QTPs be just as good? Please comment with you thoughts about Kook and QTP. Thanks. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

If you need them now you better go with Kooks. They will have your headers built and shipped in about 2 weeks - anyway you want them - stainless, or not. However you might want to have them coated locally as word is that having them coated at the factory takes a few more weeks.

QTP is severely back logged. I have been waiting for 8 weeks for my headers - and still nothing. Word keeps coming that they will ship, then it is another week, then another week, and so on.

Moral of the story - if you need them soon go with Kooks. They make top quality products and have a competitive price. Plus they will build you whatever you want - whether that be stepped to 17/8 or 1/78 stepped to 2 - coated outside only - coated inside and out, etc.

As for the performance difference between the 2 - who knows. There are only a handful of people running the Kooks right now.

I have a set of QTPs with the merge collectors on order - should be here next week - and a buddy has a set of Kooks coming in around the same time. Hopefully if they arrive at the same time we'll get some side by side comparison picks to post up for everyone.

It's not looking too promising with the long wait times I've been hearing about with the QTP's though they seem like the best choice for headers right now.....

Just so tour aware..The QTP's do have the velocity spike/pyramid. They also fit great. Simple. Quality was also good....but the wait.... thats should be the reason. By the way... 427 HP through my QTPs.

When I was quoted (started to give up on the QTP's at one point) They were $750 plus like $250 more for stainless. Needless to sayt I waited and am very happy with the headers forom QTP...Nick was decent to talk to and Im sure they are very nice headers as well.

Nick quoted me at $569 plus $275 for stainless headers. The Catted Y is $615 because he uses the metal body RT cats. The system is expensive, but if it'll give me the power I want, what the hell? Buy cheap, buy twice right?

That sucks. Maybe I'll just get stainless.
