Supposedly Vararam in Houston has an new intake manifold that Cartek is testing for them. The removal of the ported LS6 manifold and change to the new intake resulted in a car going from 430RWHP to 470RWHP.

Cartek is also supposed to be working on a new intake of some sort. Anyhow, it may all turn out to be the usual hype, but I though I would share the info...

Guess we shall see if this is true, or just a bunch of hype. If its true then the LS1 world will change a lot. new cams are going to be tried to work with the intake. Hopefully it will match the flow of the heads... or maybe more. Or it could suck the big one....

I don't think internally stock engines stand to gain much with a better intake than the LS6 intake.

Cartek has been making 470 with ported ls6 intakes on some of their customer cars. I think the quote was that one of their cars that was making 430 went to 470 with this intake.

Also, Shirl Dickey @ SD racing engines has been modifying intakes. My understanding is that he has picked up around 10% in airflow on an LS6 intake. I don't rember what he was charging, but it was $500-$700

I spoke with Dave @ Cartek about these intakes coming out and he seems very confident that they'll be all they are claimed to be. I can't wait. My 427 needs a good intake <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Since the cam I have has more dur. on the intake side, I could really benefit from this. I hope it's not astronomical in price!

I'm still lightly involved in testing one intake.

The intake is ready to be slapped on the test car. The test car has been dynoed with LS6 intakes and with another sheetmetal intake in the past... But it will be baselined again before this prototype is installed, we'll see what happens hope to have info sometime next week.

I'm with the skeptics on this one... we've been down this road time and again, only to see the product produce less than stellar results (Holley inake) or not materialize at all (remember the Aussie intake??).

In any event, I certainly hope it pans out; if it does, I'll be the first in line to grab one. However, I'm going to have to see some dyno results before I whip out the ol' wallet...

Oh, by the way, if the new intake performs as "advertised" and will not fit under the cowl of an F-car, does anyone know of a good body/chassis customization shop that could notch the lower part of my windshield for me?? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
