Default hows the loudmouth II

after what you all said about the slp headers here, i will not get them. so my next question is how is the loudmouth II? will it sound good with the slp "Y" pipe? or will it sound like the ricers?

Its not gonna sound like a ricer just for the simple fact that its a LS1. Theres a sticky that has a link to different sounding exhausts, you can listen to it and see what you think.

I have the original loudmouth and a SLP y-pipe and it sounds really good.
I have never heard the loudmouth 2 in person. The sound clips i have heard were horrible. You couldn't really tell anything from them. So someone post up a good sound clip. Because when I get my long tubes I am going to need to change out the resonator.

Im glad someone else brought that up. I heard the sound clips too and one sounded AWESOME and the other sounded crappy! I really dont want to spend the money on the exhaust and then hate it! What about hooker? Any comments on that??

I'd go the GMMG route.

There isnt alot of good sound clips out there. I have one on stock manifolds and it sounds really good, its alot deeper than the LM I, I get compliments on it alot. But I am putting on my LT's over the 4th weekend and I will be switching to hooker, I think LT's are going to be too loud with the LM II. I will be selling the system after all is installed, if interested shoot me a P.M., its only 1 year old with less than 4,000 miles on it.

My buddy's heads/cam TA had longtubes/ory/loudmouth I and it sounded like complete ***. . He just swapped out the resonator for a loudmouth II muffler yesterday and the thing sounds 1000% better. It's not a whole lot quieter, but it took out most of the harshness and "want to stab my ears out" rasp that the lm I had. I really didn't think it would make that much difference but it sure did. LM II > LM I

The LM2 exists because people used to hack up the LM and fit a bullet muffler too it.

However from my understanding the LM2 "race muffler" isn't that great. and generally suffers more drone than the LM1 does.

I have the LM and personally I really like it. Currently on stock manifolds and cats. Running one with an ORY generally isn't the route to go as the sound quality degrades.

Personally I would say the LM1 sounds awesome. Maybe not the greatest while stationary but pretty darn mean and when the cars moving it sounds very old scholl, very very deep and loud.

If it's raspy then I'm Bill Clinton.

Personally I'd go for the LM1 and just run cats. Remember the muffler is "modular" so it's easy to swap if you don't like it. So you can always get a LM2 muffler if you wanted, although most people tend to go for a Borla or Maganlfow muffler instead as they tend to offer better tone. Plus Magnaflow mufflers are dirt cheap off Ebay, like $60 or so.

As for the Hooker, well if you like the sound of the LM then I doubt you'll like the Hooker. Also is it stainless steel (I honestly don't know).

GMMG or Stainless Works chambered are good alternatives to a LM and will offer a more "toned" sound. But they also cost nearly double.

LMII Sounds awsome on a car that still has cats and regular manifolds.

I have it on my car and the sound is perfect. However it's still got the 2k 7xmph drone

IMO it's a great system for a great price!

You wouldnt prohappen to have a sound clip or could make one could you? My cars totally stock and i dont have much money to mod it just to make a LM2 sound good! Its hard to listen for diff. exhaust on TA's when there arent many at all or that race around here. (Cordova,IL)

When I had the LMII on before headers and catted-Y it had lots of drone on the highway. After headers/Y it sounds much better (all around). Less raspy. It still pop's a little on idle after hard rev's but WOT is sick >)

But the high-flow cats seemed like something I wanted. I didn't like the sound of some cars locally with an ORY. Too much.

I've never regretted buying the LMII. I was the most impressed the first time I started the car after having the LMII installed. Giddy, as gay as the word is, described my reaction. Headers/Y didn't impress me as much, though it was a major improvment. I guess because at idle from the drivers seat the sound wasn't much different to me. But getting on it is another story ; )

I have the LM1 on my Firehawk and the LM2 on my 98 T/A.The LM2 has way less highway noise at high RPM's than the LM1.The LM2 is quieter. So its perfect for my 98 T/A its an everyday driver.

I have the Loud Mouth II on my 2000 Trans Am and I think it sounds perfect. I have the stock manifolds and cats and a SLP intake. At first I didnt think it was loud enough, but after having it a while I think its perfect. I've heard that the Loud Mouth I can be too raspy, but I'm not sure cuz ive never really heard any LS1s with the LMI. But I'm happy with my LMII.

If you want to get rid of the popping just get a good tune. Mine use to do it all the time and someone told me that it was just the LM 1. When I got it tuned he used HP tuners and a speed density tune the popping is gone. I love it.

As a few have said already - Perfect sound with stock manifolds and cats.

The LMII is the only exhaust mod I've done to date. Since I installed it, it seems the only thing I reply to posts about is how awesome it sounds. Wonderful sound. Can't wait to put headers and a catted y on it.

I'm also in the process of borrowing a video camera from a friend. So hopefully I'll get up some nasty videos of the rig.

Ive just heard good and bad things about LM2 but i think its all on what that person likes. But after reading a couple threads i might just try the LM2 w/ my stock car. (as long as i was reading the threads right, a stock LS1 w/ stock manifolds and cats a LM2 will sound good??)
