BTW why? if he had a stock exhaust before and now has this, how did he loose HP? oh wait nevermind, you think that if somone posts something in they're sig on the internet that a company would want to file a lawsuit over it. <img border="0" alt="[jester]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_jest.gif" />

Why did I say he lost power?? Simple, I have seen the other "fake GMMGs" dyno less than a stock catback, due to the extra bends in the wrong places and the " not so mandrel bends"

I dont regret buying my GMMG AT ALL, and I do not think its worth my time or money to try and duplicate it. As NoLoTrans said, GMMG put countless hours into designing the system to be the most efficient CATBACK EXHAUST on the market. Im not sure where your comment about duals into a 3" pipe comes into this, as I said its a CATBACK, not a new exhaust design.

As for attacking him, re-read what I typed. In no way did I attack him, I said as long as he was happy then thats all that matters. Im happy with my GMMG and thats all that matters.

As for comparing the two, have ya had EITHER on YOUR car or are you just jumping into something head first without having a clue? I DO have the GMMG and I HAVE seen a custom job dyno and lose power, so I think I have room to speak.

As for creating your own stuff, I try to do this whenever possible and I applaud people who do this as well, however some things just wont be duplicated in small quanities to achieve the same quality and price as something someone else has already designed.
As for his catback looking great, I wouldnt say it does, its just my opinion having seen an actual GMMG in person. Its my .02, take it with a grain of salt.

As for the signature part, I was trying to give him a piece of advice, its up to him what he does, but face it, its not a CUSTOM GMMG, its a PIECED TOGETHER CHAMBERED EXHAUST. Nothing more, nothing less. PERIOD

im sorry but a v8 with a y-pipe into a 3" single is no way to make the most possible hp out of a setup. countless people spread over 50+ years of drag racing proves that statement false.

sound quality is a totaly diffrent aspect though and if thats the aspect that interests you, by all means the GMMG is one of the best.

however, you do get what you pay for unless it has anything to do with an LS1 car. and believe me, you dont even want to open up that can of worms. quality is one thing, stupidity combined with marketing tactics like supply and demand are totally diffrent. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> thanks but im nobody's fool.

Nothing is cheap for and LS1 as everyone knows. If you want speed at a good price - by a classic muscle car and put a huge motor in it and go as fast as you want.

As for quality - my GMMG looks just like it did new. Take a hose to it and wash the pollen and dirt off, and you have an exhaust that looks just like a brand new one - except for that little golden color that stainless turns after time.

Hey Keith... I think you had a good idea. I'm happy for you and I'm sure it sounds great. I just did something similar on a friends car. I ran true duals though. I installed 2 - 2 1/2" mandrel bent pipes from the cats to Chambered mufflers (from Sweet thunder) and turned out to the sides for the side exit look before the rear wheels. Sounds and looks good. I also like to make as much as I can like VentsWoker does. Lower control arms, Pan hard bar, torque arm, strut tower brace, sub frame connectors, saved a ton of cash. If you know how to fabricate, then why not. I know some people don't know how to or don't have the tools or welding equipment. I think each person has their own way of making their car custom. So, if you dont like it, just keep your mouth shut and move on. Just like when someone gets in your car and the seat doesnt fit them, do you think they should say your an idiot or you dont have it right? Im not saying you guy said that but, be nice. People have different feelings.

<img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> <-- To all and mod on!

Badpewter-z I looked into making my own chambered exhaust, listed the prices, and got the same response <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> It's typical for people to be upset when you tell them you've made something cheaper that's comparable to what they've already paid twice as much for. For all the people saying "it's not as good because it's not Stainless", here's a list of parts that are all stainless after the y. All of the bends in all of the pipes are MANDREL too, so no excuses there. I'm sure the same people crying about this not being anywhere close to as good as the GMMG will also say that the chamber design of the GMMG is far superior when compared to the Sweet Thunders. Honestly if they want to hold on to that one little trivial detail that separates this exhaust from theirs, well yeah ok. I really doubt there's more than a 1hp difference though between either design which is negligible. On the plus side my design doesn't use sharp 90 bends like the GMMG, it uses the bends from the U's that are less sharp, so the 1hp is made up equaling it out as compared to the GMMG if I use their logic <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> Anyways here’s the parts list.

Flowmaster y $37.99 (jegs.com)
3 SS U bends, (24.99)*3= $74.97 (jegs.com)
2 18" sweet thunder SS chambered mufflers (66.15)*2= 132.30 (http://www.sweet-thunder.com/chambered.htm)
Extra 5ft of 2.5" SS tubing $50 (http://www.stainlessworks.net/Bends%20%26%20Tubing.htm)

Total for parts = $295.26

I asked my exhaust guy and he said he'd charge me $20 an hour for welding it all together. He looked at what I had and said it'd be at most 3 hours.

$295.26
+$60.00
Total = $355.26

That's half of what GMMG is charging, and from the back of the car it's going to look EXACTLY THE SAME!

I am the friend that WS6SpdTA is talking about and all I can say is that my exhuast sounds AWSOME. I used to have the LM but decided to go true duals and since I have wanted the chambered muffler for a long time I figured I might as well do it with dual.

My new exhaust is just as loud as the Loud Mouth was but its soo much deeper. There is no rasp and the dreaded 2000rpm resonance/drone that the LM had is no longer there. I drove 100 miles to visit my parents and it wasnt annoying at all.

I had the pipes exit on the side and used chrome Z28 style tips. I had them tucked right against the rocker panel and it looks good really good (IMO and thats the only one that counts!!). Some might not like it but since I'm the one paying for the car and the mods their opinions dont mean crap to me. <img border="0" alt="[punch]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_punch.gif" />

This morning I took my mother for a drive and she noticed the difference right away. She couldnt stand the loud mouth and now she says my car sounds good. She said that you can hear it alot more now but that she knewit was because the pipes exited right below you. So if she likes it then I know it sounds great!!!

Oh yeah thanks to WS6SpdTA for all his help! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
