2000 LS1 the fastest stock??

2000 LS1 the fastest stock?? ok my cousin was telling me that the 2000 year was the best ls1 they made. for some reason he says its the best year. anyone know what would make him think this, or is it true?
Re: 2000 LS1 the fastest stock?? well i and many others feel the 01 and 02's are better. reason-with the addition of the ls6 intake,slightley larger cam and better flowing manifolds the cars had more power and faster times.i went 13.2's then with better driving i went 13.1's. with a lid,172t-stat,free mods and nittos i went 12.81. hope this helps ya,
Re: 2000 LS1 the fastest stock?? friend of mine with an 02 m6 z went 12.33@112 with a lid, catback, bfg drag radials on firebird wheels and draglite skinnies. 01-02's are nasty fast. oh and the only weight reduction was the jack/spare.

Re: 2000 LS1 the fastest stock?? The 2001-2002s generally do make a bit more power {10-15hp} over the earlier ones. You just have less options after 2000. For example-you could no longer get a Formula WS6 so if you liked WS6s but did not like T-Tops,,, Too bad.
After 99, you couldn't get a 1LE. Lighter weight is better than 10 or 15 HP IMO.
I've got a 2000, best with a Lid a few free mods and Drag Radials-12.97@109mph. Now my best has been a 12.59@111mph with the addition of 4.10 gears and a pulley.
Really, once you get fast enough to spin on the launch, the driver makes more difference than 10HP. If it were me, I would be more worried about getting the best deal and then spending the saved money on mods.

Re: 2000 LS1 the fastest stock?? The 2000s had a more aggressive stock cam which explains the need for an egr system. To eliminate the egr system, a milder cam was needed. If you swap out the stock cam, anyway, it's a moot point.

Re: 2000 LS1 the fastest stock?? The 01-02's are consistently running stronger at the track. I'm seeing 110mph regularly with a lid & catback only. My best in my (A4) '00 was 104-105mph with a lid & catback. Your friend is wrong, sorry.

BTW, the 00's have the same exhaust manifolds that the 01'-02's do. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> The 01'-02's just have the LS6 intake, and the torquier truck cam. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> If you'll notice, on dynoes, between the 98'-00' cars, and the 01'-02' cars, the hp is usally about 10 rwhp higher, but the tq is about 15-20 higher! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
