Torched, when you get your headers in, if you leave your cutout open, it will sound the same as the borla guys with the open plate or cutouts open. Open cutouts with *insert catback here* and open plate with borla are the same...not much at all will go through the catback, regardless of brand. Actually borla will make sure the exhaust will not come out under the car. So borla, gmmg, corsa, all pretty much sound the same unless you close it up. I still love the way it sounds closed, but it is better open in my opinion...electric cutout way to go though..

I have Dyantechs / no cats / Borla catback BLOCKED so it all goes through the muffler. Not too loud at idle but plentry of presence. Screams a WOT, sounds wicked IMO.

If I didn't like it I'd get another exhaust. I'm a 3.5 years and still loving it.

Not quite as fond when I uncork however (none through muffler).

**there is no way that borla will sound like gmmg.. NOT AT ALL....**

Torched, don't get so fired up...To rephrase since I guess I was unclear: Open cutouts are practically straight pipes, so if the exhaust never goes through the catback, how can they sound different? That was my point, not that any catbacks sound alike, but if you never go through the muffler, it doesn't matter what muffler you have, you will sound like open pipes just like other cars with open pipes and different catbacks. Close up the cutout and it is a different story. My opinion is I like my borla, I don't hear much rasp. I am not saying it is the best, I am not saying everyone will be happy with it. To each their own. Sorry for the confusion with my earlier post...

borla, 1 7/8" kooks, no cats, no plate. almost a year now. don't even notice the sound anymore, untill i get a thumbs up or "now thats the way a trans-am is supposed to sound" makes decent power, too. thats whats most important.

The borla has a little rasp with a catted Y but over all not bad with LT's. I wouldn't go with an ORY with the borla though.

Mac mids, ory, Borla no plate. Like it. I can always swap in another plate and quiet it down. No rasp at all fully closed. Can't beat the tips on a Trans Am either.

Hooker Lt's/ ORY/ Borla wide open(no plate) and a Dynomax Ultra flow BULLET in the "I" pipe.
Get's compliments(sp) all the time. Sounds real DEEP in tone.

I like it ,but i need to replace my BULLET because it is rattling inside. i have ran this for over 50,000 miles and only trouble is a little lost ground clearence on my lowered car.

i have Midlengths, no cats and a wide open borla... and mine's not raspy at all... even before i got the cam, it wasn't raspy... and especially now that i have the cam, she's a real deep, mean tone... i love it

edit: then again, everything from my headers back to the muffler is custom piping, so i guess its not 100% borla
