old school sound?

Also, does the LQ cast iron engines really sound different? I remember reading about someone with a 408ci complaining about rasp. think the 408ci is built off a LQ9 block (basically a cast iron LS1).

FLOWMASTERS sound old school..or Glasspacks..ask Kenova..
i find this to be very sexy. at the time of the video, the mufflers were still "new"...anyone that has 4x9 magnaflows knows that they continually get louder the more use they get. they are louder now and combine the perfect mix of VERY deep rumble from idle to 3/4 throttle, then almost raspy loud @ wot. i think they are sechs - hence my purchase.

True duals are what you want for old school sound. I should know; I have 'em. And a lumpy cam.
[edit: fixed typo of who I thought had it right]

So you're telling me EVERY old car had a lumpy cam and duals??????
Old school is a percpetion and a Y pipe can sound "similar" when going down the road.
Chambered mufflers like the GMMG should also count as I belive GM used them in 69 on the Corvette.
So the question is "what is old school" once you know the answer then it's a lot easy to define how to acheive something similar with a LS1.

There is no EXACT exhaust that is going to provide you with THE old school sound, because there were different exhausts used back then, just like today. I will never say GMMG is the end all of exhausts, but I like my sound with LT's cats and GMMG. Get off your high horse, your LS1, true duals or not, will never sound like a big block from the 60's.
