Nothing say's " OLD SCHOOL " ......like Headers, True Duals, and some Flowmasters. The new Black Case 40's are what you want if going this route.

i say do the loudmouth, as you know people say it sounds like **** w/ headers and ORY and all that other ****, but 99% of the people that do have it LOVE it. but its that raw muscle car sound IMO.

But for an LS1, the closest set-up to give that old muscle car sound is easily a LT header & true dual set-up w/ a pair of Flowmaster 1-chambers dumped. An H for the deepest tone, although the X still sounds very deep/old school as well. That's why I'm having my 3" X-pipe TD w/ Flowmasters installed two weeks from today.
As for a cat-back system, I'm sorry, but NO cat-back out there will ever sound "old school" on an LS1. A 4" Mufflex sounds pretty healthy. And the GMMG (what I currently have) sounds very good, but sounds much more like a modern day high performance car then your typical 350 SBC motor...

How old school do you want to go! I remember dual Hollywoods (ask your Grandaddy ) although I think they sounded pretty shitty. Best sounding car I had was with headers, dual turbo mufflers with turndowns behind a SBC 400. The car was junk, but dammit, it sounded tough.

Haven't heard TD's w/flows but i have TD's w/flo pro twisters and they have a very muscular sound, alot like an old school smallblock but kinda has a lil of the 5.0 stang kinda sound also.I get tons of compliments on mine all the time from old school rodders.
