the free ram air mod is ok but it significantly raises th intake air temp because it is sucking hot air at idle.when my car was datalogged at the track it was showing 150+ iat temps in the staging lanes.once the car is moving the temps came back down to acceptable levels.anything that moves the intake air away from the engine compartment is helpful imo

someone on the board (wanna say al) tested the SSRA at the track. he made runs, then removed the lower scoop making it like the FTRA and the SLP cai. it ran a consistent tenth slower, and backed that up by putting it back on and gaining that back.
i can slide my hand allmost to the top of the radiator...BETWEEN the ssra scoop and the radiator, so it doesn't interfer much.
i noticed no problems with cooling...that's in south florida!!
for $200 i think it's a GREAT mod, it functions as a standard cai (like the FTRA and SLP) at slower speeds, and a more effective ram air at higher.
pull at highway speeds is great!
only downside is it gets your air cleaner dirty fast. but i have a K&N...so a quick rinse every car wash and it takes care of it.
some say you can suck water in and hydrolock. but you'd have to hit some DEEP water fast to do that. i've driven in blinding hurricane storm rain, and actually looked under the air filter and saw no water.

Free ram air mod for me too! but these block the heat from your radator! when i dynoed my car i got 5 deg of knock retard from the heat! my air intake sinsor was reading 111deg at it was only 85 deg outside 
i would get the one that comes down the most!

I have been running the SSRA for 3 and a half years..the lid and the SSRA were the first mods..all the ram airs are pretty close in HP gaines..get the one that you can get the best deal on..there are some used ones in the 4 sale section all the time..you can't wear one out..the one I bought was used and it still looks just like it did when I bought it..

I run the SSRA and my temp was same before and after I put the SSRA on..I never saw any increase in operating temp.... I have never had any problems with knock retard..

I notice a few degrees higher with my FTRA but nothing to worry about.
