Poll:what long tubes and y to get.... I hate to add another what headers to get to the list but i am planning on purchasing a set of long within the next few weeks and i had a couple more specific questions. I have a couple options to chose from......
option a) QTP 1 3/4 long tubes and get their catted y
option b) QTP 1 3/4 long tubes and get a custom made catted y 3"
option c) QTP 1 3/4 long tubes and get a custom made catted y 2 1/2"
option d) stainless works 1 3/4 long tubes with cutsom made 2 1/2"
I like options b and c the most but am wondering the difference i would see in performance. The only mod i plan on doing other than bolt ons is a cam but i never now for sure. Thanks for any and all help.

QTP's should give you more hp than stainless works without sacrificing quality due to their high velocity merge collectors. since i've been hearing horrible things about QTP's y pipe lately, i'd say get one custom made, and given their crazy prices on y pipes, a custom may even be cheaper

edit: nevermind..... i just saw what you voted for
i would think about true duals but the firehawk has the daul/dual stock and im thinking about adding a cutout also so i can have the somewhat quiet and the very loud all in one car.....

The only thing with QTP is that you'll be waiting along time for you headers. I waited 2 months and threw in the towel and purchased Pacesetter's headers. I know they're not SS but, the price is worth it and if there's any problems with them I could buy another pair and still be under the price of what QTP cost. Just my .02 tho.

I'm in the same boat that you are right now, I think I'm gonna go with the emissions style headers but get the QTP 3" ORY and maybe weld in some random tech cats in later on down the road if I need to with emissions laws.
i thought about going that route also but figured id prolly spend more money that way than getting a custom made y.....and i hear the ory still isnt the best fitment.

Talking with the guys over at QTP they said that the people with fitment problems are the ones that installed their Y-pipes on their backs and not with a lift and a dead man. He pulled the Y's out and showed me how to adjust it so you can get the best clearance overall some of the pipes don't fit directly inside one another and thats ok because the whole set up should get welded together anyway. They also said that the merge collector isn't supose to be horizontally level, for the best fitment it should be slightly tilted. Overall from what I've heard and read, a 3" diameter exhaust pipe isn't meant for these cars in conjunction with thoughts of clearance.
How much would a custom Y cost to get made, if you had the merge collector and cats already for the exhuast shop?

I was just about to start a thread asking this. I'm going with QTP because of the snow/salt factor. I wish I could avoid the snow but its probably not gonna happen. I'm gonna check the price on a custom Y. I might get some magnaflow cats and a flowmaster merge and have them fab from there.
I wonder if any other catted Y's would fit? TSP maybe?
It really wouldn't be cheaper to buy pacesetters twice unless you could do the install yourself. What a pain though!

what's your reason from wanting to sell your QTP's?
105...Talking with a guy at a muffler shop here in Jersey, he told me he could fab a custom "y' and mount it to the headers for $175 and he'd even weld in cats and a flowmaster merge if I want. I'm torn myself as to which y-pipe to get...catted or ORY...emissions style headers or race....It's still up in the air.

I want cats for a few reasons, I found this list from FstBlkz28.
"A well built catted Y with GOOD cats will not rob you of more than a few ponies ... the benefits:
-No rasp
-No fumes
-Legal to pass inspections
-No drone
-No discoloring of the back bumper
-A better sounding exhaust note (subject to opinion of course)"
I'm just gonna get a cutout so I can be loud when I want to.
As for the emissions thats just something else that can go wrong. I've been riding around with a clogged AIR check valve for a while now. I'm not gonna waste any money on it.
