Default Hooker and Magnaflow Volume

I have already listened to every sound clip I could find, so it was time to post a new thread. My Hooker catback is 5 years old now and needs replaced. I loved the hooker catback, but I am thinking about something different. The Democrats require me to stay emissions legal here in PA, so I have no plans of LT headers or ORY. I was thinking about the Magnaflow, but I am not sure how much louder/better it would sound than the Hooker that I am used to. The hooker is very refined, and I hate the way that some setups sound like tractors when they start. I wouldn't mind some more volume, but I don't want to sacrifice sound quality for volume. Thanks all

i have headers, cam and the bolt ons.
i used to have a magnaflow but it was too loud for my tastes.
i got the hooker and it made it more civil. moral of the story is the hooker is more quiet

My bad, everything I've read says magnaflow is the quietter of the 2

That being said, I haven't owned either of them

I own a Magnaflow and have heard a Hooker. The Hooker is by far more quiet. I do like the sound of both of them though.

so it sounds like most people think the magnaflow would be a bit louder. I am leaning towards getting the magnaflow...

if you can barely tell that this is on your car... then either

a) perhaps you're going deaf?

b) maybe it's somewhat tame COMPARED to the cutout being open that you have? i could see that transition making a difference in how you feel when it's closed.

regardless, it's louder than the Hooker catback, there should be no argument about that if you've heard both.

here's mine with LTs and ORY:

I had been running a Hooker 3.5" single in/single out on my single turbo LT1. After discovering massive backpressure issues, I decided to replace it with a Magnaflow of identical dimensions. I was willing to accept a louder muffler if it helped my backpressure problems, however, to my shock, the Magnaflow was MUCH quieter than the Aerochamber. Also, my exhaust pressure upstream of the turbo dropped from 48 psi down to 36 psi.

I made this swap about 1 month ago.
