I dont like for my temps to be over 190 crusing. If im in the throttle then thats a different story, but even then I dont like over 220.

Since this came back up, I just wanted to say that I had the famous plastic bag semi truck radiator cover. I guess your suppose to pull the bags of in the summer living in the desert. It doesn't get above 220 now even with a 160* stat and ac on. 220* is great though considering our temps and humidity latley with the ac on. With the ac off it stays around 200*.

and maybe even a large diameter
single fan setup.
The stock fans are actually prety good. The only people that are getting rid of them are the ones that have F/I setups that are space limited, like myself. I have dual Spal fans that are very slim.
My buddy got a $200 electric 16" puller fan for his 88 mustang, and hes motor ran HOT. I gave him the stock ones from my Camaro, he mounted them on his radiator, and his car ran up to 20 degrees cooler!

All 4th gen rad's use an aluminum core with plastic side tanks... Automatics have a tranny cooler in the driver-side tank, and 2000 to 2002 4th gens don't have a coolant level sensor on the passenger side (earlier models do though).

Most performance aluminum rads are only dual core, and typically use 1" or 1.25" tubes (there's debate on wether there's any appeciable difference, but I have a feeling it's only in systems that are border-line in their cooling abilities anyway).
Damn.. I figured they were all the exact same radiator. I may just have to swap the radiator out. .5" thicker core is quite a difference. Thanks for the info man!

The stock fans are also pretty heavy, so a lot of the weight freaks like to pull em.

Also at speed the shroud around the fans dosent really help so thats another reason to either remove them or swiss cheese the shroud.
