Default Poll: To reuse or not to OEM Spark Plug Heat Shield

Doing the MSD Super Conductor wires,

Should I reuse the heatshield from the OEM wires or no?

I did a search, and only found 2 posts on it.

Thanks.

I have MSD and put the heat shields on. Didn't hurt anything, and just provides additional heating protection. I also labled the shields for each cylinder for ignition trouble shooting if neccesary.

Im using them on mine, the way I look at it is that they must be their for a reason and your not benefiting at all if you take them off so whats the point?

No heat shields on my msd's. They don't even get close to the headers and I've never had a problem with them.

I reused mine, there is no reason not to reuse them so why not just have the extra insurance? especially after paying for the new wires, if I were you I would want to protect them to avoid messing with the plugs/wires again as we all know what a bitch it can be....

Taylors here.... I re-used them. Really it comes down to personal preference.

The MSD wires are able to withstand the heat without the shields (as long as they're not touching the header pipes).

I pull the springs out of the heatshields and then slide the sheilds over my MSD 8.5'S. I'd rather have a slightly unattractive plug cover than a burnt plug wire 50 miles from home.
