Question Quicky Engine Removal Question...

I've started removing my engine today. I am using Handzel's book as a guide. It appears that he suggests removing the engine with the wiring harness attached. I however feel that it would be easier and faster to unplug the wiring harness from the engine before dropping it. Anyone care to shine some light on this subject? That's all, thanks!

its easy to take all the wires off first. depending on how far torn down your engine is. i however installed the motor with harness on already. how far is newcastle from the bayarea? north bay to be exact

Thanks for the info. I've already started unplugging all of the wires from the block. I've gotten most on the bottom except for the exciter wire on the alternator, then I need to get the coil and injectors wires off too and I think thats it. I also have to remove the one clip from the back of the passenger side head and the one from the transmission. Any else to worry about?

Newcastle is about an 1:45 north of you, a little past Sacramento.

easier to removed the exciter on the alt if you loose the lil bracket on the alt and remove the bolt on the block to swing it over the make getting the clip up to pull the harness

its pretty self explained when the wires come off plus they only plug into one place when putting back together. you going from the top or bottom. i did mine all from the top. here at home

i did not trust my cherry picker enough to do it that way. i work at a dealership but could not tie up the lifts there to wait on parts. but still glad i did all the work myself.

I've done it twice now without a lift. Just make sure you have a flat/even surface to work on. This weekend, I'm doing my 3rd but I'll have a lift.

i have done it both ways, it's def. faster to take the harness down with the motor instead of unplugging. i have done 6 motors with a lift.
