Cutout Or Not???
I am in the process of getting Pacesetter LT Headers and I am debating on putting a McCord PowerPlate cutout while I am doing work under the car anyways, What sounds better? And if i do get them, where should I place them under the car?? Does anyone know of any other kinds that arent to expensive that are good.

machsv103: If you want a louder and more race sound then go for the cutout. I would suggest getting an electric cutout so you dont have to go under your car to open/ close it. Quick Time Performance is a popular cutout. Take a look at their website. And also, put your cutout in the I-pipe and stay away from a dual cutout y-pipe as they will result in a power loss. I may only be 17 but I have a tricked out WS6 and i know what the hell im talkin about. My advice: single QTEC in I-pipe. just my $.02

IMHO I wish I would have gotten an electric cutout and left the stock exhaust on. I had some nice stainless tips on my dual/dual setup and went to true duals. Sometimes I just wish I could turn down the volume but thats only in a blue moon and hell freezes at the same time.

get the cutout, but i say do two in the y. ive never heard one in the i but mine sound awesome. you also dont have to deal with the sound of the Y merge (wich ive heard is responsible for some of the rasp) i havent NOTICED any power loss, nor a gain with them open, but i got them the same time as my headers and am probably just feeling the gains from them.

Cutouts with LT's are really loud! I love mine. Throwing a rev under a bridge near a stoplight, everybodies head turns. I get lots of compliments on mine. Sounds like *** sometimes too. Mostly under heavy load in the low RPM's, but in the high end, damn it sounds mean!

I love my cutouts, I think it sounds awseome all the time. I like that sounds of old muscle cars running open headers which is what it sounds like.
If you have one, go in a tunnel and rev your car up, it gets loud as ****, like 2x louder than outside. Then people infront of you speed up and think someone is about to run them off the road, lol.

Im not a big fan of cut outs cause my buddy has a cut out on his stock y n when its closed it kinda rattles every so often, but when its open its a noticable difference in sound
