Default New Balancer Install

i am putting a new balancer on my LS1 buildup but dont now how far its got to be on? and is there an easy way to put the damn thing on..ive got thisbig block of wood and a hammer working right now but its a pain in the ***..any ideas ....help!!!

Lol! easy? Only if you have done it 10X or more.
I hope you are replacing that stock balancer bolt. They are TTY.

wel hell then how far does the balancer have to go back..i will continue to beat the hell outta it but i dont know how far back it goes..

You don't knock the balancer back on the crank. You should be using the old bolt to pull the balancer back onto the crank. When the bolt hits the crank the balancer is on. Then use a new bolt and torque it correctly. Don't reuse the old one.

Beating on the pulley could damage crank components. Like ^^ said, pull it on with the old bolt, you'll feel it bottom out. Then torque it with the new bolt.

Install the old balancer bolt and torque to 240 ft lbs
The nose of the crankshaft should be recessed 2.40-4.48 mm (0.094-0.176 in) into the balancer bore. if not keep tighting until you reached those #'s into the bore. install new bolt and torque to 37 ft lbs and then a second pass at 140 degs. dont' never hit it with a hammer. i hope you didn't destory your thrust bearings good luck.
