Default Stupid cut out question

Okay first let me say that I am not very femiliar with this whole exhaust buisness and I am going for most bang for the buck hence cutouts. I had a 00 z28 that I had a 3 inch exhaust pipe on with some echo tips and some crappy flowmasters. I didn't like the sound still so I went with a cutout and it was super loud of course. My question is I am thinking about getting some cutouts again but I have the stock 99 ws6 exhaust which I guess the pipe is 2.5 inches right? Would it matter if it were a 3 inch with a different muffler or will it sound the same? I am asking this because I know some of the exhaust goes past the cutout.
Should I just throw a cutout on there and not mess with anything else?

I think the stock exhaust size is 2.75". If you just put a cutout on your stock system it should sound pretty good

I just don't want it to sound stupid, I looked on that website with the ls1 sounds but I can't find a stock car with just a cutout. Everyone has a million mods on there.

You just need one 3" cutout in the I-pipe under the rear pass. side seat. It won't be really loud, but a good bit louder than stock.

Yea, o2 sims here. $50 used usually in the "Parts for Sale" section. Or have somebody with tuning software hook you up for a few bucks.
