Default Need Help!!! Car Overheats!

Hey sometimes my fan will not seem to turn on and the car overheats, the relays are fine and so are the fuses, but it doesn't always do it, but when it does it gets to the red in the temp.
Now could it be a bad fan? But its sporadic so I dunno.
And the temp sending unit is the same unit that talks to the pcm and the gauges and the gauges are fine, but could it still be that?
Could the thermostat do this?

It could be a number of things.
Thermostat might be sticking...
Gauges could be lying...
You might need a tune and set them to come on earlier.
