what do the different numbers mean on stock heads and what are the numbers been curious to know this and whats different about the heads.....thanks

the castings is what the different numbers are. like for instance 243 is an ls6 head.

853 97-98 ls1 heads, 241 99-02 LS1 heads and 805 no idea prob one of the truck heads

was more curious about the 805 as thats what my 98 trans am has and i've never seen anyone talk of them

Your car has an 806 casting head, not 805. The 97-98 heads are 806 perimeter bolt castings, not 853's. The 853 is 99-00 (centerbolt), 241's started in the middle of 2000 and ran through '02.

yeah your right i looked at it again today, any real differences in the heads, or pretty much the same

The 806 and 853 are pretty much the same aside from perimeter bolt vs. center bolt. The 241's are a different casting method and might flow a tiny bit more stock. All three are pretty equal when ported.
