The 98-99 headers have fittings for EGR and AIR systems. If you car has AIR and EGR, than you will want to get the headers for that year so that those systems can hook up. If you are going to get rid of you AIR and EGR, than you can get the 00-02, which only have an AIR fitting. If you want to delete both systems, go with a set of "race" headers, which have no fitting for either system.

01-02 have no EGR, Have AIR
98-00 have air & egr
Now the kicker is the 98 AIR tubes are not parallel to the head like the 99-00. So you have to go to GM for diff tubes if your putting on newer manifolds or vice versa.
i found out the hard way when i put headers that I thought were 99 and newer but they were not, they were for 98 model year.
