Well you said "the Magniflow sounds like ***" and said "enjoy your truck". As far as horsepower I don't think their would be a big difference between the two. I'd still say the Magniflow will flow better having seen the inside of both of em.

Still wrong. I had the 80 before I got the headers and ory. With stock manifolds the 80 was so quiet I could barely hear it. I got it 5 years ago cause my friend had an LT1 with an 80 and it sounded awesome. I was very disappointed. I put the headers on and still disappointed. 3 months after the headers went on I blew a hole in one of the welds on that thing. I wouldn't recomend it to anyone.

Definitely wait until u get the LTs b4 u get rid of the flowmaster. The LTs will wake up the magnaflow, and it does sound bad a$$.

I have a flowmaster catback available at a very nice price PM if interested, sounds better than 90% of other catbacks out there and flows better than people give it credit for...

lol the magnaflow is regarded as the third quietest catback right behind SLP dual/dual and hooker (stock doesn't count) and you're gonna say flowmaster is QUIETER? buddy, i had an 80 series on my V6. my V6 with the flowmaster 80 series is LOUDER than my LS1 with corsa, and everyone will agree corsa is louder than magnaflow. you, sir, are wrong-o.

because a V8 would be even louder since you have 139 more cubes, 2 more cylinders and double the air coming in and coming out, making it entirely relevant to the subject at hand. so other than upping your post count, why did you even bother to chime in?

So far, this thread has done nothing. Somebody post up some quantifiable data, like interior db level comparisons, or flow rates of the mufflers in question, or HP numbers comparing brand X to brand Y.

I had a FM AT catback for 6 years. I change the muffler, but went to a FM SUV version to reduce the interior db level. I went from approximately 98 db to just under 92 db by switching the muffler. (I've also reduced the interior db to 88 by adding thermo-tec products over most of the exhaust, but that's a separate topic.) I felt no difference in performance, but didn't get any dyno comparisons to verify the differences in mufflers.

I agree in principle that the cross-flow muffler flow rates are not going to be as effective as a straight-flow muffler, but don't have (nor have I seen) any comparitive analysis showing so. So, if anyone has that data, post it up. This "less filling, tastes great" arguing is getting old!

I've used FM mufflers for over 18 years now, on nearly every vehicle I've owned. The one time I tried a different brand (Midas' Ravin muffler) the car got significantly louder inside (no db readings at that time, sorry, but the wife noticed it right off the bat) and I could feel a loss in performance and throttle response. My exposure to other brands (Corsa, Borla) in some of my friends vehicles lead me to believe that my FM noise levels are no different than theirs. I can get db levels from them if need be.

I had one on my LS1, you didn't. End of story. Cubic inches have nothing to do with the volume of the exhaust. Listen to some of the ricer cars at the track. (If you've ever been to one) Some of the loudest cars there. (4 cly.s) My nextdoor neighbors Celica w/fartpipe is way louder than my TA w/longtubes,ory,and open Borla.

there is a great thread on here from 9-ball on exhaust, and it does not discribe the flowmaster as being the best for our cars....i have always had the magna, but i currently do not have LT's, but i do get heard. I love the magna,,but thats me. not sure where the thread is, but (when it works) do a search on exhaust, and start diggin,,you'll find it. Its packed with all kinds of good stuff about exhaust pros and cons.

I'd sugggest a Spintech- it's the best sounding muffler I've heard on an LS1- even better than GMMG IMO

I have the Spintech muffler on a mufflex single exit cat back, with Lt's/ORY and it sounds beastly. Has minimal drone on the highway too.

Well.. I have an 80 series and it is plenty loud. I'm not sure what they think a kitten sounds like but my car does not sound quiet at all, except at idle. I had a Magnaflow on my 89 Camaro and the 80 series on the LS1. They both have there own unique sound. I prefer the 80 series sound hands down. I would recommend waiting until you get the long tubes like they said above. You might as well wait and see if it is better and not waste money. If it is not then change it. People can talk about the 80 series not performing as well all day long just like they can say our T/A spoilers don't do anything, but last I checked the sound of the 80 series is what I want and the spoiler is the look I want. Really doesn't matter if I lose 5hp or I don't gain any real down force.

To each his own though.
