Exclamation kooks headers question

going to be upgrading my 346 h/c setup to a forged 383 setup with around a 200 shot or more of nitrous. my question is what kooks header should i go to since my 1 3/4" hooker headers have rusted through.do i go with the 1 7/8" or the 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 step. also will the kooks headers bolt up to a hooker y pipe? thanks

a sponsor site described the sizes this way

1 3/4" - Best for bolt-on cars or if your running a head/cam upgrade
1 7/8" - These work great with stroker motors
1 3/4" to 1 7/8" stepped - A nice upgrade for if your running a BIG cam, supercharger or nitrous.
1 7/8" to 2" stepped - These are pretty much "race car headers" Your going to be running a big cubic inch motor and spraying alot of nitrous to take advantage of these.

i would go with the 1 3/4's. i am not 100 percent positive but i don't think your y pipe will work with the kooks. when i bought mine they said that you have to get the kooks y pipe to for it to work. but i also have a z06 but i would think it would be the same.

whats the advantage of a stepped header, how would it be better for nitrous then the 1 7/8 all the way through the header?

I have been interested in this header discussion now for a while and have been debating going to a 1 7/8 header also. From what I have been reading if you are running a stroker motor with a big shot of nitrous then you would be better off with the 1 7/8" headers. With these headers running n/a you should gain some peak hp but may lose some low end torque.
