Default A little scared... help.

So i just finished my Ebay longtube header install, and since i dont have an xpipe fabbed up yet ( in the works ) i just put my mufflers (dynomax bullets) straight onto the longtube collectors....

this is way to loud... i mean it sounds nasty and mean and all... but the vibration and resonance is killin' me. Will it be better once i get my xpipe fabbed up and my pipe going out the SIDE in front of the tires. I also might put cats on if it helps with the sound... because it sounds very strong and muscular (love it) but i wish it wasnt so intense.

I need your opinions.. anyone with this setup or similiar and gone through this.
I want a strong, mean sounding exhaust.. that is still civil when im not getting on it...

On the upside though.. i stopped at a gas station and when i left i was next to a mid 90's cobra and i decided to get on it nice and hard.. and he tried to keep up but he looked scared when i romped on it.

The muffler shop should run extentions out to the back using at least one chamber flowmasters. It will still be pretty loud.

p.s. please don't dump your exhaust out the side. You'll hate it 2 weeks from now and will have to pay more $$$ to have it done correctly. Trust me. ~Joshua

If I read what you posted correctly, you have the exhausty exiting directly below the driver's/passenger's seat? That would explain why the sound is so "vivid" you might say. On most cars the exhaust noise would originate at least 6 feet behind you and then have to make its way through layer after layer of metal and fabric to get your eardrums. Once you get your x-pipe fabbed up the sound will diminish relative to you in the drivers seat because the source of the noise will be further away.

Cats will decrease some of the high frequency rasp that is inherent in all combustion engines. The vibrations will also go away once the exhaust exit is located further back from the driver's seat.

To TAINTED...

they slipped right in... no i lied.. on the driver side... there is a thin metal tab that looks like it was put there to have something bolted to.. what i dont know.. anyway i had to take a small hammer and knock it flat... about two seconds of work. Other than that they slipped right in. Look great as far as quality goes. Strong welds, one guy that has used Kooks and Hooker longtubes before said that these looked just as good as either of those.

you are basically running open headers at the moment....

true duals will cut the noise down about 25% and then cats another approx. 25%

had the same setup but true duals with cats was too quiet for my taste so im running true duals w/ dynomax bullets dumped

and yes your writing your will with side exit exhaust... hope your not dropped

If it terminates under the car you are gonna have terrible resonating sounds. Only way I would take something out the side would be with a boom tube. It will be loud *****, but you wont have that teeth rattle that goes with it.
