Default Shorty Headers

i live in gay *** california, so i have to get shorty headers in order to stay legal...i have been looking at edelbrock, but i was wondering if jba shorties are any good, got any opinions???

2000+ manifolds flow just as good so dont waste your time. you can do LT's just switch them out when you go for inspections

yea i wouldnt waste the money on shorties...put the money somewhere else that help out more

I have seen Edelbrock Shorties..they look really nice-good welds.etc....I have their LT's.

you do have the better flowing manifolds as you will get minimal gains with shorties but if it's worth the money than feel free... find the cheapest you can get new/used as they're all basicaly the same

I have edelbrock shorties(came with the car) They suck, there are welds in the primary openings which I need to grind out. If you port them a little they'll be better but not like lts. You'll gain maybe 10-15rwhp(if the primaries are smooth, no weld blocking flow)over 98-99 i though 00 were the same but i maybe wrong? I thought 01s-02s had better manifolds? Going from from 01-02 manifolds to shorties is maybe 5rwhp(just a guess). I've had a bad experience with these headers, but I know the quality is a little better than when these first came out.

As far as shorties go JBA seems to make the best per public opinion. I just bought a set, cuz Cali sux, and will hopefully have them in this week end. T talked to a coupler of tuners and they said they can get them to within 5-8rwhp of long tubes on a stock-small cammed LS1. I really don't know and I don't really care because it will just make me feel better to have them if nothing else.

you can get a little more than that with a tune but yes... that's around the amount we're talking here

no you can install headers with the engine in... shorties are the easiest to install

oh and change your sig pic before the mods getcha

well i wouldnt waste your time with shorties
i have mac mids w/ catted y on my car, and i picked up 17whp and i think like 19wtq from them.
but of coarse a LT header is going to outflow a mid-length header. but i think that the mac mids are very underrated.

If you can get away with LT's do it. They are cheaper than some shorties. I would port your stock manifolds if it is not to big of a pain. Port matched would probably be the way to go as far as living in Cali.

I am right there with you. I got 22hp & tq at the wheels arcoss the board with a fresher tune of coarse.
