Default Best cam for 90/90 set up

I'm running a G5x1 with a ls6, qtp longtubes, kooks off road y, slp billet. It sounds and runs real well but I just got a killer deal on a 90/90 set up from the lid , mass, TB and manifold. I'm thinking I will need a better cam since I'll be getting more air in there. Right now I'm thinking MS3, MS4, or the TREX. Any others out there that I should consider. The car is pretty much a DD but not a lot of driving. I will be spraying too.

yea the bigger the cam, the more potential you will be getting out of the intake, but any of them should work fine, as long as its tuned properly

That intake/tb is going to knock off a little bottom end, and a huge cam will add to it. However, the car will make more on the big end. It's going to be a trade off.

Selling the stuff and investing in a set of ported heads would make a helluva-lot more power for around the same price.

wel I rev to 64-6500 now and I'd like to not go any higher then that. I was also thinking the G5X4. What do y'all think. Heads will most likely be in the future so I want to have a good base.

G5X4 will make power to 6800 at LEAST. FAST 90/90 will even bump it up a bit more.

Yes, this would do you better than a 90/90.

Unless you plan on heads/bigger cubes in the future, the 90/90 isn't worth it.

werd on the 90/90 not being worth it, i lost some power under the curve where i needed it the most, and i picked up some peak, so the car is good up top dont get me wrong, of course my plan is to go bigger heads and maybe bigger cubes so in the long run i guess it will work out

If you think you'll keep on modding get the 90/90 you'll only regret it.

It should work better in the higher rpms than the LS6, anywhere from 5500rpm it will outperform it.

Mid range should not be affected, and even at 2400rpm you'll only be looking at 5-10lb ft less with the 90/90 so I think its a pretty fair trade off, bearing in mind most setups are producing well over 300lb ft by that time anyhow.

I don't know toomuch about the LG cams, they seem to have loyal follows and quality products. The Trex is a monster and should work well, the MS3 is old hat and lacks bottom end due to the wide LSA. The MS4 should match the MS3 up high but out perform it mid and low range.

I would be tempted to shoot for the MS4, although I think the DCR would work out a little low, a set of heads would make a difference with any cam. TSP sell PRC S1 heads at a great price and with the MS4 it should make good power and work well with nitrous. Recently a MS4 90/90 bolt on with Terminator heads made over 480rwhp, it did require flycutting though.

Lastly a custom cam may be a better bet depending on your intended goals.

If you are looking at a FAST 90 / Proted TB 90 set-up, I would look to Tony Mamo. He did mine and I gained 20 RWHP and 22 RW Torque. If I put my car in "Race" trim, it was even more, well into the mid to upper 480 RWHP and mid to upper 430 RW Torque. But, I kept the AFR at 13:1 to be the optimal for me as I do not track my car. Seach this forum for Mamofied FAST 90 Results and you will see my thread. The FAST 90 Intake Tony Mamo did for me gained across the board. I did not lose anything. So, I have had excellent results with this combination, but again, mine is not the stock FAST 90 out of the box.

I have a LS6 as well (Z06), but with all the bolt ons except a EWP. I do not know what your combination will do with stock heads. It may be best to get the heads first and then get the Ported FAST 90 set-up from Tony Mamo. The G5X1 cam is a good cam, obviously not the biggest, but I would get some AFR heads milled to 59cc maybe first from Tony and then get the Mamofied FAST 90 / NW 90 TB. If money is not a deciding factor, why not get both at the same time.
