The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I believe some of the Euro spec cars, these would be z/28 only no TA's. Had a single outlet exhaust, much the same as the V6. In fact it is surmised that it was infact the V6 exhaust used. This was some sort of "quiet" option pack for drive-by noise emssions. And I believe these cars where offcially rated at 288bhp. I have also read, but never witnessed that some of these cars also had 4 CATS to pass some German emissions test. I've only read this once however, so I have no idea how true it is. But the single exhaust is, I've seen them at the GM dealer.
However not all Eurospec cars have this exhaust, as mine is a genuine Eurospec car, but it had the regular exhaust on it just like the US counter parts and it only has 2 CATS. I think the PCM is programmed slightly differently though as these cars where rated at 295bhp.
I have the 2OTL on my car and I'll agree with you, I don't like the looks (too much like an old, stock fox body or SN95). BUT I love the sound/performance. I'd prefer 2OTL sound/performance with a "stealth/hidden" ALL 304/321 stainless system with BIG turndowns/dumps past the axle/rear muffler (like the Mufflex system, only stainless and louder!!). NOBODY makes this so I guess I will have to custom fab one eventually.
Camaros I have no idea they arent my thing

Edit: Just like what they did with the GTO and then they realized the error they made and fixed it, changing to dual exhaust outlets (just like the GTO)
Amazing how mistakes are repeated isnt it....how soon they forget
