Well removing them is common. You'll need to do a few things. Get the O2 sims as you mentioned in the title and/or get it tuned by a shop or you can attempt to do it yourself.

I've heard the !cats option so many times. In my state they'd lock me up and thow away the key. People that sell drugs in MA get less trouble then people that mod their cars. So check with others in TX and see what they've done.

Probably also depends on what part of TX you are in. If there is no emissions testing, get a tune or some rear O2 sims and pull those cats off. Probably won't gain much HP from just gutting cats alone.

My plans are to change the heads, cam, and headers but the main reason for getting rid of the cats is because of the smell from them when I run nitrous.

Your rear 02 sensors have NOTHING TO DO with the way your engine runs...they just inform the computer whether your catalytic converters are in proper working order or not. If you get 02 simulators, they just keep the 'puter thinking all is well in converter-land. ..I repeat..your engine runs the same, even if you just take the cats off , which will give you a service engine soon light on your upper right side above odometer.

If you pull the cats off your car will probally run rich, and yea you would need 02 sims to keep it from setting a SES light off

WILL NOT run any richer at all... Please get your info correct. [your FRONT 02's are the brains of the operation...they TELL the computer/engine WHAT TO DO.]

The reason you think it is going to run rich, is because there are no cats 'scrubbing' the particulates out of the exhaust...it smells more/rich.

the only other thing it does is make your exhaust more raspy. but i have a question i was getting a p0420 code so i decided to gutt my cats about a week ago and no check engine ligh (yet). i am also just running the stock y pipe over the axle, i had an sts turbo but had to take it off, money reasons, so i havent put anything back in its place. so the car is back to stock, but its really loud and very raspy. dont really like it to much, going to be getting headers in the next couple of months. but i heard a blocked cat can cause damage. oh well

well it will make the exhuast more free flowing theirfor making it run a little rich. Just like after headers except not to that degree. To get full potential outa the cat delete you would need a tune, but it will still run fine without it

just get it tuned out....get simulators is a waste of money, they tend to fail after a period of time....losing your rear o2s can make a car run slightly rich, because once the car is throwing a code the computer sometimes will run it in a safe mode depending on the code, which in turn will add more fuel....my car did this when i pulled my emissions and unpluged my rear o2s...before i got them all tuned out back in the day.....

Removing AIR, EGR, and the rear O2 sensors will not affect performance at all.
