idea behind open headers? what is the idea behind open headers? Is there anything more to it then just taking off everything after headers? .. or is there something you can do to the headers themselves? Also are gutted cats a significant gain as far as sound w/ a cut out as well?

All open headers means bro is that you re not running any kind of exhaust equiptment after the headers. So basically to run ipen headers you just take off your cat, catback and the whole deal and run them "open"
Kinda sounds like you better do some research before you make any "open header" purchases.

Buy a set of long tube headers and don't install the Y-pipe or any other part of the exhaust. I wouldn't run just the stock manifolds though... they're too short and there's no telling where that exhaust gas might go or what it might heat up! Downpipes with the long tubes are good idea too.
