Thumbs up Installed LoudMouth II Today

It was pretty easy. Not a bad garage install at all. The hardest part was breaking the bolt loose on the stock clamp at the intermediate pipe, but it was nothing some Liquid Wrench and a breaker bar couldn't handle. Other than that, a couple of cuts with a reciprocating saw (highly recommended) and the old system was off. The new one just took some alignment trial and error. A couple of notes:

1) The clearence between the over-the-axle part and the cross brace above the panhard bar seemed too small, but there's no banging at all so far, even after some pretty aggressive test runs.

2) Even after moderately tightening all the clamps, the whole assembly seemed kind of loose until I really tightened the nut on the mounting bracket on the passenger side. I was surprised how rigid it was after that. In fact that one bracket is the primary support for the entire cat-back.

3) The fit in general is good. The parts will go together with no drama or trips to the muffler shop, but you are working with several fairly short pieces and the whole thing feels like a wet noodle until you start snugging-up the clamps!

Anyway, the sound wasn't what I expected. A bit more exotic than the old system (stock pipes with Magnaflow muffler). There's definitely some resonance but not in any particular rpm range. Seems to depend more on whether you're accelerating than on the engine speed. Idle and steady-speed cruise are actually pretty quiet. Don't get me wrong, though. When you get on it, it's LOUD. Nothing you can't live with in a daily driver, although most wives/girlfriends will hate it and tell you how crazy you are. Which only confirms I made a good choice.

Got it thru Speed, Inc for $389 shipped. Ordered online Sunday, drop-shipped by SLP via UPS on Wednesday. I'll be posting some favorable comments for both companies in sponsor feedback!

That, my friend, is the quote of the day.

Please post sound clips, as I know that there are not very many clips available on the LMII. Many people have asked how the setup sounds in the past, but only a couple clips have turned up on LS1sounds. Thanks

Yeah. I loved the sound of mine with stock manifolds and cats. Can't wait to hear it with longtubes.

It's too bad there aren't any good soundclips out there. There's only two on LS1Sounds.com and you can barely hear it. It really does sound great and everyone beats it down so hard.

If I get a chance, I'll try to post up some soundclips once my car's running again.
