Default too loud

Alright, I've got a 98 TA with long tubes, ory, and loudmouth exhaust and it is killing me with the loudness. I'm broke as hell and really need to quiet it down a bit. I was wondering if a slp resonator would quiet it down enough or is there something else i can do that doesn't cost much. Would it be stupid to cut the muffler and put something a little more conservative... Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks.

put the stock exhaust back on if you kept it and get an electric cutout.

that way it can be quiet when you need it to or you can open it up and have it go ***** to the wall too.

add cats. $100 in parts and an hour of labor. not only will it be quieter, it won't be as raspy either. and you won't be high off gas fumes during traffic jams...always a plus

Get a dynomax bullet muffler they arent very expensive. Take it to an exhaust shop, have them cut out the slp resonator on the loudmouth and replace it with the bullet. If they are a reputable shop this shouldnt cost much. Sounds awesome, thats the setup i have on my car.

+1 for cats as well. Seems to be the way to go for getting rid of the racket/raspy loud noises.

it's still the best thing he can do. it will quiet it down more than any bullet in the I-pipe would. if cats are out, his only other option is to get a whole new exhaust setup. nothing will quiet it down more than cats short of a real muffler in the I-pipe, which wouldn't fit and would be more restrictive than a good set of high flow cats.

Thanks for the input. I got to try something. It already has a dynomax muffler on it. I guess I'll go with the cats. Tired of getting high in drive-threws anyway.

It'll sound a lot better with cats, and it will quiet it down some as others have said.
