Default Electronic Cut Out Questions

I have been thinking about getting pacesetter longtube headers and putting them on in a friends shop. so i took the car over to put it on the hoist and start to check out what might need to be moved or taken off to get at the stock manifolds and or put on the new headers. I new the engine bay was cramped for space but i could barely see the stock manifolds and see no way of just "slipping" the new LT's in place like i've read so many posts say you can. so now i am thinking hard about putting on a single cutout on my stock Y-pipe and was wondering if anyone has done this before (running an open cutout on a stock car) and if this is a smart move or if i should buy the LT's and have a shop put them on and then install my own cat-back siystem..... i want to go the best route for my money spent, so if there is no difference performance gain in having LT's and a cat-back system vs. having a stock exhaust with the cut out then i don't want to waist my money on the LT's.

any information would be great especcially if you have any experience with eiher of the set-ups.

cutout on stock exhaust wont gain much, just get in there and put the LTs on, they WILL slide right in, ive installed a couple pacesetter with the cars only about a foot off the ground so with a hoist it should be cake

I could only see about 2 bolts on each manifold so how can they "slip" right in if its that much of a bitch to even see them. how much stuff did you have to take off and move out of the way to put on the lt's as well.? and how long did the job take from start to finish?

Start to finish 4-5 hours with a few pairs of hands. Don't rush it. And trust us when we say that they just slip in. They do!!!

there are a ton of How to's on the site and at installuniversity. com i think it is. I thought the same thing when i looked at mine. The other day however i went out and started moving things and really looking in to it.you will see that they do just slip in. I cant say i have done them myself but from really looking at it i think when i do mine its gonna be just fine.

My pass. side slipped right in...the dr. side we had to grind a 1/4" of the tab on the block off..then it just went right in/on....these are Edelbrocks though, not Pacesetters. We turned/faced the header straight up and down[collector facing the ground] , put it up as far as we could then just turned the header the way it is supposed to be.
