the lid is cheeper and looks better, no offense but the fipk looks like something that goes on a honda, take the money that you save on the lid and buy a smooth bellow.

the smooth bellow doesnt add but like 1 hp at most. tis purely appearance for the msot aprt. take hat money you save by getting a lid and put towards a worth-while mod

if the pipk could be sealed so that hot air from teh engine bay could not get in, then it would be just as good as the lid(i think) but yeah, go with the lid, you will not regret it, the fipk is WAY overpriced!!!

the volant ktis are sealed to an extent but they still arent better. a lid seals out engine bay heat, and not only takes air from the front, but with a cai kit will take coold ense air form under the car. either way the lid is the best method other than FI

It doesn't need to be sealed because the heat from the engine does not affect it. When you sit still, it will heat up. Once you start moving, it cools right back down. The reason is because much of the air comes up from behind the filter - the area between the engine and the radiator. You might suspect this to be hot air, but it isn't. My autotap has verified time and time that it is the same temp as outside ambient air. It is also because of this airflow from behind the radiator that the volant intake may not be ideal - since the airflow from behind the radiator is restricted.
