if you are afraid of her hurting herself in the car, no matter how good of a deal. Try and talk her out of it. If you think it is more car then she can handle, she could end up getting seriously hurt.

friend with lame car > casket with a tboned bitching ride

It looks pretty clean but with out a test drive and good look over i'd be leery of and as said before a car on the lot with slicks I'd try to walk from.

How you gonna try to make your girl not buy the car she wants just because you think that its too much power for her? A third of the guys with fast cars probably shouldnt have them either, yet we still do. Thats pretty fucked up. Let her buy whatever she wants as long as its affordable. Its not like youre her dad or something.

I say go check it out. If you fire it up and its got a cam, I would pass just because of the possibility of problems. I say this because it sounds like this will be her daily driver and I didn't get the impression she does her own wrenching. It may have a stall as well, thats something else to consider. As for her safety, I don't think the car will affect that much unless it is in poor mechanical condition; a stock z28 is powerful enough to get her into trouble, what difference will a mod'd one make?

My first impression of the car is to pass. If I were in your shoes, the MT drag radials would cause me to lose interest, too much of a risk that the car was thrashed.

Yeah, I don't want to talk her out of it really, just voicing concern.

And if it does have a cam....yeah well, we'll go look at it in a bit...I'll keep you boys up to date.

Did you not read what he wrote about how she drove with him in her 96 V6 Camaro? I wouldn't want her driving a much faster car.

with the way she was driving the V6 camaro, i wouldn't want her to be streetracing somebody and kill somebody innocent, just because she can't handle the power. And thinks that the street is for racing. (which is shown by the way she drives her current car). I know there are guys out there who can't handle the power, the get weeded out. (wrecking)

So what my wife doesnt like me driving a fast car but that doesnt mean that she should be able to stop me from doing so I thats what I want. Same applies to this guys girl. Its her choice, not his.

Any car that looks likes its been on the strip too many times isn't really a great car to be looking at for a DD. Now if you were looking for a project or something otherwise, then I'd say go for it!

My $0.02: this car is a good deal for the DIY wrencher; and it's a bad deal for anyone else.

As for responsible driving, that is the car owner's own responsibility
(...although you can try to lecture someone about this...).

I'm calling BS on the seller, if you have "change oil light" as a feature, then you know it's a piece of ****

Sounds like a dealership to me, not a private party, and dealerships list everything ... especially if they don't specialize in that type of car.
The dealership probably knows very little about f-bodies, if anything at all.

Although you could be right about the piece of **** part.
That might be why it was traded in.

Alrighty....here's what happened.

We went there and I looked the car over some more. It had adjustable rear shocks, and as mentioned was lowered in the front....more than an inch, that's for sure. It had SLP headers...so lowering it was a poor choice. I am disppointed in SLP headers, they had rust spots on them! But anyhow....we were concerned about the scraping, but we test drove the car anyhow. It had no cam or head work, engine ran good, a bit of piston slap at start up, but other than that it ran fine. We scraped the headers pretty good a few times, and I was kinda disappointed in how quiet it was, so was she actually. When it came down to deal time...the guy presented us with a asking price of 14995!!! He said it listed for 16500, but they so nicely took some money off right away. They offered her 2000 on her car, plus 2000 money down and came up with 42 payments of 510 dollars!!! I mentioned that 10000 dollar price on autotrader and they said it was a mistake.

So we left. Looked at a Mustang GT still, sounded good, slow as ****, and a Trans Am that was an obvious accident car.

So now we have two more Trans Ams to look at.

Shady *** dealer, it was fun though

Manny

not only would i never let a girl this dangerous drive a car with that much power, and not only is the car likely very unreliable...she just wouldn't look right in it. that girl would look good in a V6 mustang. a camaro LS1 with drag radials...screams man's car to me.
