Christ, since you're all too lazy to read it, I'll post it for you :

.22 and 1.5 MPH was the gain swapping Macs/Mac 2.5" ORY-> Grotts and 3" Y pipe at the track.

PLEASE STOP TELLING PEOPLE MIDS ARE NOT MUCH BETTER THAN STOCK MANIFOLDS.

I never type in caps, but this kind of thing really irks me - people read here like it's the gospel truth so please do your part to make sure they are educated with the correct info !

I personally made 410rwhp/415rwtq through Mac Mids, Carsound cats, LS1 intake and a baby 222/224:114 cam with 5.3L heads.

Rob (Bad30th)
Ya, but throw a larger cam in there and the difference REALLY starts to show. I agree with you in that people need to STFU about mac's being shitty because they aren't. Depending on the setup though, LT's will generally still be a better idea.

A better a/f ratio doesn't necessarily make more power, as you mentioned. But more importantly, where the a/f ratio is most different is lower midrange, where LTs are supposed to be better anyway. From the graph the two are just about the same. The fact that Mids are so even, even at that rpm range, is a significant point. Not to mention the peak power figures have a virtually idential a/f ratio.

I was going to point this out also. People here seem to think that it's ONLY Cali where anything other than stock or shorties is illegal. IT'S A FEDERAL LAW folks which states you CANNOT move the cats, nor remove ANY of the pollution control $h!t! That being said, it IS cali where you have little to no chance of getting through a visual with LTs or mids, as opposed to some areas where they don't even bother to look. Just a matter of strict "letter of the law" enforcement vs. the actual law.

BTW, heck yeah, $170 is an amazing price for a coated set of new Macs with ORY.

Nobody is saying it isn't illegal. It just isn't an issue for many outside California, since visual inspections aren't the norm elsewhere. If you're really fortunate, you live in a state with no inspections, like Indiana.

Thanks for the post guys, so it looks like I will be going with longtubes afterall. When the time comes I will just place cats in the y-pipe and go to a place that does not care about visual. My girlfriend smogged her car early this year and the guy didn't even look under her car and only used the OBDII tester thing hahaha.

Also have another question, if I get longtubes and do not do the provision and egr thing and the light comes on. Will a basic tune or the OBDII test will able to cancel out the SES light? Cause I know when the SES light is on, isn't that a automatic fail in the smog test?

Just use a tuning suite to turn off the DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes), and the operator won't know the difference.

I offered it from someone on ebay that was auctioning his macs. I hit him up with an offer and he took it, but someone already purchased it. But I'm picking up my longtubes on Sunday and installing them next weekend. I can't wait, thanks guys

If you are interested in some headers I know someone selling a set of hookers for $265 plus shipping and a set of mac-mids with ory and provisions for $300 shipped. Let me know if you are interested so I can hit them up for you!
