Default Is $170 a deal for macs?

I was wondering if $170 is a good deal on new coated mad-mids with ory? Or would you buy used for 10k coated flowtechs with ory a good deal? Which one would you get?

You want longtubes. The only reason to justify getting anything less is being in California.

not really, some people dont want the hassels of long tubes, the fitment issues, the cost, and what ever other head aches come with them. They are not a bolt in and go thing. To do full length headers you have to revise some of the exhaust system.

Mac mid lengths are a bolt in with no clearance problems, no road clearance problems, and maybe make 5 to 10 rwhp less that full headers.

Whats not to like here. I plan on getting macs for my car next year. They will do everything I need and with half of the issues.

coated mac and y for 170, Damn!!! that's a steal and in terms of hp/dollar it is unbeatable. On a SI you will only be losing5-10rwhp over lts. I say go for it.

I have a question guys which I couldn't find the answer through a search. If headers do not have the provision hookups and egr is blocked off will the SES light come on? Because I was planning on putting some cats when the time comes to do smog and just go to a place that doesn't care about visual. If the light is on, can one of those OBDII testers turn it off or do I need to get a tune to do it?

The mac-mids do not have provision and the egr which both were shaved off. Let me know guys, thanks!

IT is a good deal, definitely an upgrade from stock. However not as good as the long tube will net you.

may sacrifice 5-10Hp most over longtubes. I have macs that i bought used 3 years ago for $280 shipped. I say its a good deal and worth the money. When you're done with them you can likely sell them for the same amount and longtubes should be just as cheap by then.

MACs have been shown to only give up a handful of hp up top, but more in the midrange because they don't scavange as much being mids.

GOOD GOD will you LT fanatics PLEASE stop spouting misinformation.

LOOK IN THE EXHAUST FAQ for a dyno'd comparison between Mac mids and LTs. THERE IS A 5-8RWHP DIFFERENCE under the curve, almost nothing on the top end.

Here, I'll post it for you :

.22 and 1.5 MPH was the gain swapping Macs/Mac 2.5" ORY-> Grotts and 3" Y pipe at the track.

PLEASE STOP TELLING PEOPLE MIDS ARE NOT MUCH BETTER THAN STOCK MANIFOLDS.

I never type in caps, but this kind of thing really irks me - people read here like it's the gospel truth so please do your part to make sure they are educated with the correct info !

I personally made 410rwhp/415rwtq through Mac Mids, Carsound cats, LS1 intake and a baby 222/224:114 cam with 5.3L heads.

I find it interesting the person who posted that graph called himself a "believer in LTs." Personally, I would have liked to have seen the gains after a tune put the AFR back in line. Would there be a significant difference? It is anyone's guess, but all things should be equal if we're going to argue over the "gospel truth."

My point is that people on here constantly say mids are no better than shorties, or don't get them unless you live in Cali (which makes no sense because mids will fail the visual inspection just like LTs because they relocate the cats).

More than likely, leaning it out a little would have improved the difference even more - however performance-wise, Mac mids are within a small margin of any LT's out there. Much closer to LT performance than stock manifold/shorty performance.

...and yes I agree LT's are better for overall performance, but after seeing post after post bashing them when the Exhaust FAQ clearly posts this graph I thought I'd bring it up so anyone reading this thread would get the real info.
