Default Early '98 stock headers question

I remember a post way back on LS1.com that these early '98 LS1 stock headers flow very well. So would changing to JBA shorties net me any gains. I'm will be installing a MMS 427 very mild stroker soon, and want to keep all bolt ons CARB legal since I live in So California. I'm not doing any hollow log mod on them either.
Also will a SLP Y pipe help any, or should I just keep the stock Y pipe. I do have a Corsa exhaust already.
Remember Louie. Well the way this engine will run with MMS custom tuning will fit his old man mods to a T.
Thanks in advance for all answers to my questions.

I've never seen any gains from the JBA shorty headers on a stock Y-pipe. Coupled with an offroad Y-pipe, they will work okay though.

SLP Y-pipe = no gains either. I had one, what a waste!

What didn't show gains on a bolt on or even heads/cam 346 might show a gain on a 427 though.

Once I have the stock cats on I'm pretty much screwed how much I can get out of my exhaust. Like Tony said, if I use an offroad pipe, then I can see more flow with the shorties.

I'm pretty happy with mine, but then again I did some work to it. I was pretty disappointed when I got it, and took one look at the collector and cut it off. I replaced it with a Flowmaster 2.5->3.0 collector and got decent results considering the state of the rest of the car at the time.

I still run a stock 98 manifold on the passenger side for the single turbo. I did the "Larry Hollow Log Mod" to it. This entails cutting it open and removing the metal baffle inside.
