Default power steering cooler

To have or not to have that is the question, and for that I need some answers. I found out to day that the power steering cooler has broken on my 99 z and I wanted to know if i even need it. How would I go about taking it off it I could, i.e. new power steering pump, or could I just plug the cooler lines and run like that.

Could ya help a newbie?

Most of these pumps will burn out quickly without the cooler.

My pump has been fine for over 1 year with the cooler deleted.
