Default Small header install questions

How do I get to those damn back bolts on the passenger side? And, how in the hell am I supposed to put the headers on there! Sorry, just a little rant. Feel better now. Also, I see I'm going to have to remove the dipstick unless I can pull the headers out the top which I doubt. I followed the dipstick down and it just goes right in. No bolts holding it. There is one bolt next to it, is that what I need to do? Also, I don't think I'm going to have to drain my oil for the install. When I pull the dipstick is oil going to come out? TIA

Fairly easy.....Get a 1/4 in ratchet, short 10 mm socket, and try to find the correct angle. It's not that hard. If I remember correctly, you may need a long 10 mm socket for some of them. Maybe a short socket and small extension as well. Grab that combo of tools and it should be no problem.

What kind of headers are you speaking of? I installed my Macs from the top on the passenger side, removed it the same way.

Yes, you will neeed to remove the dipstick. There is a 15 mm bolt on the passenger side head that holds the bracket connected to the dipstick. Unbolt that and it will slide right out, and of course oil will drip off.

Good luck

Josh- Thanks for the help. Now just a couple more questions to clarify what you said. Did you work from the top of the car or below the car? I'm installing Grot headers, and I really don't think they will slide in from above. On the dipstick, what I meant is 2 quarts of oil aren't going to spill every where when I take the dipstick out right? If it's 10 drops I don't care, but I don't want to change my oil. Thanks again.

I think most people do the Grotts from the bottom and the car needs to be about 30 inches in the car so you can turn the header perpendular to the ground to get it in.

How's the quality of the Grott's look?

No you're not going to lose any oil by removing it. Just remember where the hole is. It took a while to find it when I did mine.

The grots look amazing....
Now the last bolt I have to get out doesn't look so good. Damn last bolt on the passenger side. Also, any tips for destroying bolts on the stock y-pipe so I can get the damn thing out of there? I have a sawzall...

The Y-pipe bolts at the cats will turn out if you spay on some Liquid Wrench the nite before. I cut my Y-pipe to cat-back with a hacksaw because I had my SLP welded on. You won't lose any oil by removing the dipstick. Good luck with the Grots!
