when i bought mine a while back i was told the hypertech one was a better unit, said there had been some problem or something with the slp's ? not sure now though if there was any truth behind it... if there was i'm sure it was fixed... this was about 2 - 3 years ago

been happy with my hypertech ...

99% chance that they are the exact same part. I have a Hypertech 160 and it works great.

Can't name any specific stores (non sponsors) but.....you can get a 160 stat at local parts stores for a lot less than SLP or Hypertech. If I remember right about $30 compared to $50

....also beaten to death , but we will let this one ride out a bit more. You will get about a 180-185 reading with the 160° as well.

I origionally bought the hypertech, but it was defective. I had lost the receipt so I was SOL on that one. I bought the SLP one after that and it works fine. I generally try to not buy SLP products, as the sayibg goes "if SLP makes it, chances are someone else can make it better or cheaper" I was proven wrong in this instance.

Why? Thats only 10 degrees difference from stock?

You can modify the stock one anyway.

I have the hypertech 160* t-stat.

I thought stock was 185?

But i'll probably get a 160 or just keep my stocker and get a manual fan switch.

195 is stock
My C5 and Z06 both run ~198 even when they finish running 800 miles from Austin to Albuquerque. They never go lower than 194 ever.

Yeah but one has a completely different engine in it.

Doesn't Lingenfelter only offer 170 (or 180) thermo's in their warranteed (spelling blah) packages. I think a bunch of the big names only offer the higher temperatures due to better lubrication for the engine.
