Whistling Noise
My car has been making a whistling noise from 1500 rpm to 2000 rpm, sometimes. It only began after i installed the headers on the car and i have replaced the exhaust manifold gaskets twice so these are not leaking. Also i put ultra copper rtv silicone around all areas that my y slid in then band clamped them all. Has any one ever experienced this before and any ideas what it could be. Maybe the muffler going bad or something? I have mods in sig. Thanx

Won't make the noise in neutral just revving. I'm using the oem gaskets on it. It only does it occasionally from 1200 - 2000 rpm but it is extremely annoying. Almost sounds like a horn or something. Its definately coming from the exhaust not the rear end. Usually happens just before it shifts.

friend had that problem and it was one of the polution control lines that was off. i belive it was the AIR pump maybe? the thing you put a breather on when you do a lid. very possible you knocked it off while messing around down there.

Yeah check the intake/lid, see if the air connection was knocked off. They use cheap plastic connectors that can be brushed apart and allow air in. Usually whistling would be a filter or lid/intake issue. Make sure it is all snug and not letting in any air where it is not supposed too.

Yea that would be nice! Merry Christmas! Anyway's, i checked the intake and the AIR hookups and everything looked good. Car kinda made this noise a little before but it is much louder since the header install. Hence why i think it might be the muffler. Any other ideas guy's?

Tighten your header collector clamps. I'll put $$$ on it that's your problem. I did my transmission and I had to yank the Y-pipe, so after I re-installed it, I tightened the clamps, and she's whistling now... It's done it before, I just haven't gotten a chance to mess with it.. It sounds almost like a squeaky belt... Anyoying, but get on it, or crank the radio, and you won't notice it anymore.

I was told by a local muffler shop that the muffler itself is causing the noise. He told me he has had multiple flowmaster exhaust come in making noise and it was the muffler. I want to replace the muffler and i'm considering a hooker aerochamber! Is this a good choice for my set up? What do you guys recommend.
