The stock SS hood is not that great anyways, so i guess any little bit cant hurt. i mean the air has to make a complete 180 before it enters the air box. check this article out. just a little insight. personally, if i had an SS hood, i wouldnt **** with cutting out the little bars in the inlet, i would just get a FTRA or SSRA and do the FRA mod and seal the inlet of the air box off at the front and be done with it.

NO!!!NO!!! NO, it makes NO difference, DO NOT destroy your hoods for no horsepower gain. If you want a gain then do the free ram air mod and FTRA or SSRA kit, just dont mess your hood up.

There is no performance advantage to cutting up your hood. Enjoy your hood for the looks and get an FTRA for performance.

Can't you do something to the hoods to make them let heat out better?

You could cut out heat extractors but it probably wouldn't look good if you did it yourself.

The former chief SLP engineer once posted that cutting open the slots would compromise the structural integrity of the hood.

There was also many hours of testing done with this, and no gains were seen by making these holes any bigger until you were moving over 190mph. Just leave it be.

yea bigger isnt always better, their is a point to where the extra air that is being brought in by the scoop is really pointless b/c the engine cant use it. The same principe applies in nascar, look at the front of the cars, the grills are big enough to provide enough air to the engine and enough to keep everything cool, anything more would be pointless. Kinda the same principles
