Default LS1 Waterpump

Ordered a new waterpump for my 99 TA. From a different vendor, I ordered a Hypertech 1015 180 degree powerstat. Figured I might as well kill 2 birds with one stone. Turns out the pump I got is a 2007 L92 Water Pump and it looks like it takes a different thermostat. It will not even fit down inside the hole.

I am guessing a different sta is required? What other suprises will this pump give me when I go to put it on?

That should be the only surprise. Call the vendor and get the right t-stat.

The new LS1 replacement pumps aren't compatible with the Hypertech stats, housing is different. Thought the new ones already came with a 185?

Cool, thanks for clearing that up for me.

Yeah, from the looks of it, you would have to cut the housing to put in the Hyper stat. Even then it does not look like it would work. The stat that came with it is labeled 86C (186.8F), so I plan to use it and set my fans accordingly. The thermostat housing is better made from GM anyway. I big concern now is what else might be different.

Don't you need an LS2 stat...?

Finally got around to installing the water pump this weekend. I found another issue. The LS1 upper radiator hose nipple points to towards the radiator, will this pumps points towards the battery more. Its enough so that I do not think the upper radiator hose will work. Wonder if a fix is a easy as getting a stock house from a different car? GTO maybe?

Any ideas...
