Default A.I.R. system poll

ok folks this just recently popped up in my mind and has me thinking. The AIR system takes air in from the AIR bump and dumps it into your exhaust to help the cats or something. not sure maybe someone can correct me if im wrong but anyhow. im gonig with LT's and I AM getting the jet hot ORY. so without cats theres almsot no point in keeping my air system. so do you think I should take it out? I gotta pass NC emissions but since I got no cats and im ditching the EGR I might as well ditch the AIR system to huh?

If you aren't running cats, there's no reason to have it. Even if you are, it is primarily there to help the catalyst do its job until it gets up to full operating temps (that's when the catalyst works best - when it's hot). Strictly an emissions device.

I'm waiting to delete mine until the time comes to get some stepped headers, then I'll yank it and never look back.

Mine was squeaking on startup...that hastened its departure from my car. It has been in storage ever since. One of these days, I'll probably throw it away.

I guess I can always save the stuff just in case. the e-bay ehaders have all the provisions for emissions so I was just gonna put block off plates over it. so yea I guess if something happens I can put it all on there. I think this is an all go for no air

If you take all your crap off KEEP IT, NC emmissions require it to pass obd2 hookup, AND theirs a visual inspection where they make sure its all their (cats,EGR,AIR) Found this out the hard way when I had my old T/A the guy before me took the air pump off and I didnt notice and I failed inspection b/c of it, their werent any check engine lights but the crap has to phsically be their unless you know someone or the shop overlooks it.

I have a ORY and kept the EGR and AIR just b/c it would throw less codes, when I get it tuned I might take them off and get blockoff plates, not sure yet, but by buying the ones with the hookups you leave your options open

I voted yes, simply because it makes plug changes a lot easier. Altho it should really come down to how strict the inspections are in your area.

Maybe i'll just buy block off plates because one of my friends will be deleting all the codes.

thats quite alright man I dont mind thread jackers as lnog as its the same general topic. no need to make a new thread when one about it is already up

Ive decided im getting it all taken out because the e-bay headers have all emissions provisions so what I'll do it just use block off plates and save the AIR and EGR stuff. Im also getting a tune from probably pcmforless.com also so I wont be throwing codes either way.

Tainted, I don't mean to thread jack either but I'm moving to Fayetteville in about a month and had a question about the inspections-So they just do a visual inspection for AIR, cats, EGR(if applicable) and see if there are any codes?
So, no actual sniffer test for NC, right? Was wanting to get rid of my AIR pump and all the crazy hoses that get in the way but guess I'll keep it if they check for it.
