Default Do I need the ALT UD pulley on an M6?

I'm getting the UD ASP Crank pulley soon. I've heard that the A4's have charging problems w/o the ALT UD pulley. And what I got from the search, the ALT pulley negates the gains from the UD crank pulley. Is that true?

The ASP pulley kit w/ the ALT pulley is only like $15 extra anyway.

I tried a search too... not much on M6 ALP pulley recommendations.

I am not positive about the ASP, but I have ran the March UD on an A4 car and also one on my current M6 without the use of an overdrive alternator pulley without any issues.

Don't waste your money on an alt ud pulley.
The reduction in charging out weighs the gain in hp.
Which is not much anyway

it would be a good investment, not so much for the power gains but more or less that it will put less strain on your alt.....last time i checked a little pulley was cheaper then a new alt...

I believe he wants to run an OVERDRIVE alternator pulley with his UNDERDRIVE crank pulley to avoid charging issues.

I have no problems with just an ASP underdrive pulley. I've read tons of posts where people have zero problems as well. You don't have 4 12's in the back do you?

If it ever does become an issue, you can change alternator pulley out at a later time.

ok, kewl. I have 2 12's, tho...

And yes, OVERdrive pulley for the alt and an UNDERdrive pulley for the crank. I suppose I can just get the dual pulley kit for $20 extra.

I have only the ASP underdrive pulley, and a couple of amps and a sub - no problems for the last year or so!

I've been fine without the alt pulley for over a year now.
