Default 78mm Fast or LS6?

I've got a line on a 78mm Fast intake for $550 shipped, so I figured since an LS6 intake would cost me around $400 with shipping, it might be a good deal. I'm putting a cam, LTs, and a ported TB on to go with this. Would the gains be worth the extra $150?

The only fast intake worth having is the 90 mm..and it is not worth having till it is ported..on a stock cu. in. motor you cant beat the LS6 intake..unless you are going to a real good set of heads and a big cam the LS6 is the way to go...check the 4 sale section you should be able to pick up one for around 300 bucks...

If you have mild heads and cam or cam only...LS6.

I recently upgraded from a ls6 to a fast 78. I slightly ported my fast intake to remove the casting marks & obvious restrictions and gained 1+mph on my gtech. Traction is also more of a problem now.

I feel that it is worth an extra few hundred dollars to have the fast 78(I probably wouldn't buy one new though). If you do a search you will find more results. The thing that really sealed the deal for me is to hear Tony Mamo (afr heads) an ls1 authority say that the 78 is nearly as good as the 90 except at high rpms.

The fast 78 vs the ls6 is one of those hotly contested topics like descreening or not descreening the stock MAF so you will get varied responses.

For what I have seen the LS6 and the fast 78 with the added expense of porting are about equal..the LS6 is a great intake...especially when you consider the cost of the fast with porting..the ported 90\90 combo will produce 20+ HP but it is a combination of the larger 90mm TB and the ported intake..when you figure the 20 HP per the cost it a pricey 20 HP..I have owned a 90\90 combo too..unported 90\90 I have seen as little as a 8 HP gain..
